I have lived in Seattle for 10 years now, and there are still a few things that I have wanted to do since I moved here and for some reason have never gotten around to. One of these was hiking Mt Si which I did in September last year. Another was to visit the Seattle Public Library, which I finally did yesterday. If you didn’t know, I love books and reading… my mom is a librarian, I volunteered at her library in high school, I worked in a book store in college then in the University book repair for the last couple of years, I always take a book with me when I know I will be waiting at the dentist or doctor’s office or on the plane, I love being a part of a book club, I stay up way to late because I just can’t put a really good book down, I love decorating with books and collecting beautiful hard back editions. I just really love books. So I was really excited to go visit the Seattle Library, that I have heard so much about, and driven past many times on our way to do other things in Seattle. I really enjoyed it. I loved the different architecture and the openness and windows around the whole library, the lettered wood floor, the yellow escalators, red floor and the 10th floor view point. The one disappointing thing was that they are not part of the amazing King County Library System so I couldn’t check out anything. 🙂
Also, being the daughter of a librarian I can’t handle it when people say “libary” instead of library. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard. Vu was totally one of those people. I had to coax him into using that first R so he wouldn’t say it wrong around my mom.
So cool… you need to take me there! And I do thoroughly enjoy having Vu pronounce it correctly… thank you!
