Last night I hosted my 4th Visiting Teaching Christmas dinner. It has become one of my favorite traditions, having a delicious meal while chatting with friends and enjoying the Christmas season. I got these red goblets for my birthday and used them as the starting point for the rest of the decor. Last year when we were at Wight’s they had the most adorable mini poinsettia’s and I made this wood tray with them specifically in mind, so I thought they would go perfect with the red goblets. I found these silver glittered ones at Trader Joe’s, which was much more convenient than driving up to Lynnwood. Although I still want to go up sometime to enjoy the live carolers. I found a template for the paper poinsettia’s online and cut them out on my Silhouette. I have been waiting to use these perfect bell ornament name card holders from Hearth and Hand and I loved them with all the red.
For the menu I chose as many recipes that I could think of that used something red. The recipes for the chicken bruschetta , parmesan potatoes and yorkshire pudding I have had for years. The potatoes are always a favorite with everyone. I found the pomegranate drink and the brie pomegranate bruschetta appetizer through Pinterest and they were both so good, I will definitely be making them again. I skipped the balsamic reduction on the bruschetta though and just drizzled them with the vinegar and I substituted basil for the parsley. The strawberry cream cheese tarts I got from one of those Tasty Facebook recipe video’s and they are the perfect dessert. They are so easy, super delicious and look so pretty. They are another favorite. It was another great night!
