For Halloween this year my sister came over for dinner and then we watched “Hocus Pocus”. It was the perfect Halloween night. Apparently it is just a matter of time before I use mint for every holiday dinner… and of course eucalyptus with it… just a little obsessed with both of them for the last few years….
My very favorite thing was the mini paper haunted house and tree I made for the name tags. I mean they are so adorable, aren’t they? I really wanted to use only black and mint/green as much as possible so I finally broke down and bought these black plates I have had my eye on for months at Hearth and Hand at Target. I also bought these mini cauldrons from Michael’s. I saw them last year and was really tempted, but talked myself out of buying them, but couldn’t resist when I saw them again this year and I still loved them so much. I made a dip to put inside them with a little celery “stirring” stick, and it was so cute. For dinner I made a chicken and veggie bake, which was good, but nothing special, and this focaccia bread which was so good. I have some honey pecan balsamic vinegar that I bought at the Sequim lavender festival that we used to dip the bread it, and it was amazing! We got a lot more trick or treaters this year than any year we have lived here, which was really fun. It kind of makes me sad when we don’t get hardly any, even though they started coming right when we sat down for dinner because that is the time Vu gets home from work. It was the perfect end to one of my favorite months.
