Catching the End of Autumn in Utah

In October last year I flew to Utah to visit my brother and his family, in particular to see my little nephew who was born this summer.  We had a really beautiful sunset as we were landing in Salt Lake City.  Throughout the week, we did a few things to try and enjoy that last bit of Fall that was still hanging around: going for drives in the mountains, taking walks and going to Rowley’s Red Barn in Santaquin for some delicious apple cider donuts and cider ice cream slushies.  After the Red Barn we saw all the pretty fall trees at the Payson temple so we decided to stop.  However we couldn’t walk around the grounds without an appointment.

The last day that we were there my brother gave my nephew a baby blessing (similar to a christening).  It snowed all morning, which I loved.  I miss the Utah snow, it is so fluffy and not so wet like Seattle snow.  It was so pretty with the Autumn leaves still there.  On our return flight to Seattle the pilot flew us right around most of Mt Rainier.  They don’t often do that, so that was so nice.  I am guessing it is usually not clear enough to really see it well…  🙂

It was a really good week, I love hanging out with my Sister in law and sister and holding my nephew as much as I can.  He was just learning to smile before we came and it was so cute to see all of his smiles, which he did often.  I also really love their adorable puppy.  It is so hard to go home afterwards! 🙂
